About Me

I was born in a town known for a chicken that lived for 38 days with no head. Things have never been quite right since.

"When I'm Sixty-Four"

I think my sister believes that I won't come visit her in Pittsburgh unless she gives me an art project. This is, of course, not true, but it adds to the excitement when I know that there's a chance she will unleash me in her house with a paintbrush and paint and say, "Just . . . have fun." This project came about because of a stencil. It was a decent stencil, and the paint color was nice, but overall, the look just wasn't quite what my sister and her husband were going for in their kitchen. I attempted to add shading to the design. Not an improvement. We were all disappointed. I thought about what I would paint if I could toss out the stencil and paint anything. I thought about my sister and her husband. They love music. They love the Beatles, specifically. And they looooooooooooove each other. Why not song lyrics? And why not song lyrics that incorporate food? I proposed the idea, and the crowd went wild. Then, the crowd tossed me into a car and took me to an art store, where I purchased paintbrushes and paint. My brother-in-law printed off the apple from the Beatles album and asked if I could paint that as well. I'd never been that great with apples, but I like a challenge.
